Dan Helland has been privileged to be a Professional Photographer all of
his adult life.
This year marks a milestone for him in an exciting career that began in 1956, when he first studied and practiced the art and science of photography while
on duty with the U.S.Navy.
After those early years, while he and his wife, Connie were raising their family
of four children in Green Bay, Wisconsin, he continued in the "usual" photo studio business, as most people know it.
Portraits, Weddings, Family Groups and Seniors were mixed in with assorted Commercial assignments, in factories and on advertising location shoots. As
a later specialty, he came to specialize in Theatrical Photography, and was honored to work with many of the most talented and famous performers of
the 20th century.
This, in turn, led him to re-locate to Nashville, Tennessee. where he has spent
the last 25+ years within the country music industry, working closely with the famous, the near-famous, and the wanna-be famous.

Now, having retired after more than 50 exciting, varied and fulfilling years
behind the lens, his phone still continues to ring, and he has the enviable
option of being able to select when and where to accept an occasional assignment that interests him.
But, more important over those many years, is the fact that he's managed to
create and maintain an impressive negative file that's both as surprising and
as widely varied as you can possibly imagine.
